But a few people added tomatoes also in this dish along with yogurt with tomato puree in the similar proportions as mentioned in the recipe as well as still make a tasty shahi paneer. If adding tomatoes, then you can also add up cream as both tomatoes along with cream actually go well with each other.

Vegetarians can make the same shahi paneer recipe with tofu and cashew yogurt. You can also  add up soy or peanut yogurt for this dish as these will spoil the taste. Ingredients for Shahi Paneer :

300 gm Paneer Cubes.
450 gm Chopped Red Onions.
4-5 Choopped Tomatoes.
1 tsp Turmeric Powder.
3 tsp Red Chili Powder.
½ tsp Sugar.
1 tsp Garlic and ginger paste.
Few Pods of Cardamom.
2-3 Chopped Green Chillies.
1 inch Chopped Ginger.
1 tsp Kitchen King Masala.
5 tbsp oil.
Salt according to taste.

For Garnishing :
Fresh Coriander Leaves.
Fresh Cream.

How to make shahi paneer

Step 1.

First of all heat 2 tbsp oil, when oil gets heated add  400 gm red onion in it, now add 3-4 chopped tomatoes in it and mix it very well and cook it for 3-4 minutes at a very low heat.

Step 2.

Now add ¼ tsp of turmeric powder, 1 tsp of red chili powder, ½ tsp of sugar and salt to taste and mix it nicely, roast this masala for just 1 minute.

Step 3.

Now add 1 tsp of garlic and ginger paste and again give it a nice mix, now it is ready so turn the heat off and let it cool down.

Step 4.

In another pan heat 1 tbsp of oil, when it gets heated add few pods of cardamoms, 1 medium size of finely chopped onions and few hot chopped chillies and 1 inch chopped ginger and mix it very well.

Step 5.

Now add tomatoes, pinch of salt, red chili powder, pinch of turmeric powder and kitchen king masala and again mix it well and cook it for further few minutes.

Now it is 50% cooked so turn the heat off and keep it a side.

Step 6.

Now make gravy from basic onion and tomatoes curry which we have cooked earlier by blending it in a mixture blender also add little water in it and make creamy and nice gravy from it.

Step 7.

Now in the same pan heat couple of tbsp of oil, when its get heated add 50% cooked onion and tomato gravy curry in it and clean the pan with some water and also put that water in.

Step 8.

Now add little kitchen king masala, ½ tsp of red chili powder and mix it nicely then add creamy gravy which we have made from onion and tomatoes by blending and again  mix it very well and add little water in it.

Step 9.

Now add 300 gm paneer cubes in it and give it a nice mix and cook it for 10-12 minutes, after 12 minutes now it is ready.
